  • Updated Registrar Standards for Online Gaming:In January 2025, AGCO updated these standards, focusing on documentation and auditability. Cybersecurity policies must include incident response plans and regular penetration tests, along with disclosure and mitigation protocols for high-risk jurisdictions.

  • Separation of iGaming Ontario (iGO):In May 2025, iGO became an independent agency, separating from AGCO. This move aims to enhance operational autonomy and foster growth in Ontario’s online gaming market.

  • Strengthened Oversight of International Operators:AGCO increased enforcement against unlicensed operators abroad, issuing warnings and taking action to protect consumers and ensure gaming integrity.

  • Responsible Gambling Training Updates:In July 2025, AGCO revised its responsible gambling training standards, removing the need for formal program approval to reduce administrative barriers while maintaining strong player safeguards.
